Stained glass PCs: the four ways to get one, and the lights off test that sorts them (2026)
A stained glass window is a window. Take away the light behind it and it is a dark wall with lead in it. That is the whole test for a stained glass PC, and most of them fail it: a vinyl sticker on a side panel looks like stained glass in the product photo and like a sticker the moment the room goes dark. Turn the lights off. If the panel glows from the inside, you have stained glass. If it disappears, you have a poster.
There are four ways to get stained glass onto a gaming PC, and they are very different objects. We make one of them, so read the rest with that in mind; the other three are real and two of them are beautiful.
Four ways to put stained glass on a PC
A real leaded panel. Cut glass, lead came, solder, the way a church window is made. A stained glass artist on Reddit made one for a friend's PC and it is the real thing: heavy, thick, and glorious with a lamp behind it. The catches are the ones a window has. It weighs what a window weighs, it does not love sitting an inch from a graphics card that runs warm, and the piece that breaks is the piece you cannot reorder.
Hand stained tempered glass. Glass paint applied section by section to the panel the case came with, so the panel stays tempered and keeps its weight. PC Gamer wrote up a Redditor who did this with a lion and it is as good as it sounds. It is also a one off by definition. Nobody can make you a second one, including the person who made the first.
Vinyl and stickers. Most of what comes up when you search for a stained glass PC case. Cheap, fast, and honest about what it is if you look at the edges. Printed vinyl is opaque, so light from inside the case stops at it, which is the failure of the lights off test. Translucent film does better and still lifts at the corners after a few hundred warm and cool cycles inside a running PC.
Printed pane by pane behind the glass. The artwork is drawn as leading and panes, then UV printed onto the inside face of the tempered panel, so the glass is the glass and the print is cured into it. Light from inside the case comes through the panes and stops at the leading, which is what makes it read as a window rather than a picture of one. It will not peel, it wipes clean, and it can be made again. This is the one we make.
What it looks like with the lights off

A stained glass PC has two faces, and a buyer only ever sees the daytime one in photos. In daylight the panel is artwork on black glass. At night the fans and strips inside the case become the sun behind the window, and the panel throws its colors onto the desk. Our designs are drawn with the inside lighting as part of the picture: the Nyanners page promises a purple twilight over your setup, and it means that literally. Eden's Veil goes further and sells the two faces as colorways. Frostvine is the daylight one, Ravenroot the moonlit one, and the same botanical panel reads as a different window in each.

If you are buying from anyone, ask for the night photo. A builder who designed the glass for the light behind it will have one. A sticker seller will not.
How we do stained glass

Eden's Veil is the garden: a botanical stained glass panel printed pane by pane, a sigil painted by hand on the front with an aged, distressed finish so it reads as something old, and front slats cut from real oak or walnut. Besides Frostvine and Ravenroot there is Widowbloom, deep violet glass, tangled branches and blood red roses under a crescent moon, a limited seasonal edition, and Grimthorn, the toxic garden in purples and magentas for anyone who wants the macabre side of pretty.

Nyanners is the collab with the VTuber, and the one that proves stained glass does not have to be gentle. Art Nouveau lines, tentacles reaching for a crescent moon on the front, a fractured mosaic that looks like the window is coming apart, printed across both glass panels so the case reads as one piece from either side. Behold, Nyarlathotep has risen.

Lord Aethelstan is the castle: Gothic arches in crimson, black and grey with a wolf head in the glass, in homage to the lord himself. The panels are UV printed directly onto the surface, and the design was drawn to leave gaps on purpose, so the hardware shows through where it should and hides where it should not.
All three are configured part by part, so the glass decides what the PC looks like and nothing about what it does, and all three carry the standard warranty: lifetime labor and three years on parts, because the people who printed the glass also built the machine.
Living with glass
Three honest notes. A printed tempered panel is still a tempered panel: it is strong, it is not indestructible, and the day it meets a tile floor is the day you learn that. Dust shows on dark glass, so keep a cloth where the PC lives. And heat is not a worry for a printed panel, since the print is cured into glass that was always going to sit next to warm parts; it is a worry for a leaded one, which is why we never went that way.
What a stained glass PC costs
A sticker set costs less than dinner and lasts about as long. A commissioned leaded or hand painted panel is a few hundred dollars, a long wait, and a work of art you own one of. A PC designed around a printed stained glass panel starts around $1,500 with us (Eden's Veil) and a little above that for the collabs, configured for 1080p and climbing with the graphics card. The glass costs the same at every tier; the card is what moves the price.
Frequently asked questions
Is a stained glass PC case real glass?
The panel is real tempered glass on every kind except a sticker. What differs is the artwork: a leaded panel is cut colored glass, a hand stained one is paint on the tempered panel, vinyl is a film on top, and a printed one has the design UV printed onto the inside face so the glass is the glass and the print is cured into it.
Does a stained glass panel affect cooling?
A printed or stained tempered panel changes nothing; it is the same glass the case shipped with. A leaded panel is heavy and should not sit against warm hardware. In every case the air still has to come in through the front and leave at the top or back, so check the case breathes.
Can I add stained glass to the PC I already have?
Yes, three ways: a vinyl or film kit for the side panel, a commission from a stained glass or glass paint artist, or a replacement panel if one exists for your case. Only the film is cheap, and it fails the lights off test because light from inside stops at it.
How much does a stained glass PC cost?
A film kit is tens of dollars. A commissioned leaded or hand painted panel is a few hundred dollars and a wait. A PC designed around a printed stained glass panel starts around $1,500 at Ironside (Eden’s Veil) and a little above that for the Nyanners and Lord Aethelstan collabs, before the graphics card.
